Hands-On Labs Using IBM Mashup Center: Slides (coming), Workbook, and Web Site

Introduction

The Federal Mashup Workshop is a follow-on event to the Federal Mashup Day. During this workshop, you will be able to apply what you have learned during the Federal Mashup Day through a series of hands-on labs.

Learn how to easily unlock and tap into information from a wide range of sources. Simply point-and-click to dynamically assemble new applications using feeds and widgets. Learn how mashups can revolutionize how applications are built and deployed by both non-technical and IT users.

Objective

The objective of this session is to get a hands-on experience with IBM Mashup Center so you can directly experience how situational applications can be quickly and easily created. After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Create a mashup!
  • Create new pages, add widgets to a page, and wire widgets together
  • Modify page layouts and properties
  • Share mashups with colleagues
  • Unlock departmental and enterprise information sources by creating feeds
  • Combine, filter and transform feeds through the Data Mashup Editor
  • Upload and import mashup pages
  • Download and install external widgets
  • Create widgets using Lotus Widget Factory
  • Use IBM Mashup Center’s catalog to add, find and rate widgets

Audience

This workshop is targeted for those in the Federal Community who want hands-on experience developing mashups. It is recommended that participants have a basic understanding of web concepts, as well as of their own business needs and current IT technologies. No formal programming experience is required.

Cost

This session is offered free of charge. Complimentary refreshments including continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. However, participants are responsible for their own business travel expenses.
